When I first heard TEED's new album 'When the light's go' I felt really drawn to the track The Sleeper. I spent a lot of my teens getting really into some very smooth 80s love ballads. I particularly took to Lionel Richie's album Back to Front. Was an odd album to get stuck into I guess. Since then, the flame for 80s ballads, especially with el piano, seems to burn bright. Billy Joel, Bonnie Raitt etc, Christopher Cross. Well, this track has some of that nostalgia for me but beautifully updated and with a late night, lonely, neon, trans Atlantic feel. Whatever that means! I feel it!
I love this song and it was such a pleasure to work on my own version of it. Thanks to Orlando for giving it the thumbs up and go ahead :)
Here's the full, masterful album. So good:

I worked on it hard with producer Nath Cable. He co wrote a lot of the ideas and parts and produced the entire track.

We did a lot of it at Strongrooms Studio. His skills as a producer know no limits. Highly skilled, knows when to dig in and when to let go of something. He can also just handle tricky customers like me, no probs.
So glad top-bass-lad Mike Chilcott could pipe through some Stockholm bass lines. He's the best a man can get.
Additional drums from Chris Zane (!)
Mastered by Mike Hillier at Metropolis
Lastly but not leastly Reuben Whitehouse who did the artwork for 'Has Had it', last year's release. I'm so into the neon-naughty style he's gone for here. Think it would look so good on merch actually. the choice of colours, the sleepy eyes against the black is very very cool!
Well. there we go. as you can see I'm pretty pretty pleased with what we've all created. let me know if you like it. DO NOT CONTACT ME if you don't like it.
